Hungry Jack Lodge Snow Reports

Good Morning Snow Seekers, Well we have not had much recent snow a few flurries and very light accumulation over the past week. We have had several snowmobilers through this week. Well we got some more snow last night. We picked up 3" of new snow here at the lodge. I have heard amounts of 6"+ closer to Lake Superior.  The groomers have been out today and all of the trails are groomed. We are forecasted for more snow early next week.  Current Snow cover in the Mid-Gunflint Trail area 12"+.  Lets keep our fingers crossed that the snow keeps coming. Good Afternoon, Well things did not pan out for us as far as snow over the weekend. We did get a significant amount of rain on Friday and temps in the upper 30’s. Then the temps dropped below zero. With all of the rain everything is frozen rock hard. I would say we have about 4”-8” of snow cover in the woods. Snowmobiling is pretty rough going until we get more snow. We received about 2"+ of snow yesterday here at the lodge. We are currently have about 8"-10" on the ground. A few snowmobilers have been out conditions are improving but more snow still needed. Good Morning Snow Seekers!!!!! Well winter is trying to start temps have been a little warm recently.  We have about 4”-5” of snow on the ground.  We had close to a foot or better when it fell but with the warm temps is had settled drastically.  The lake froze over just a few days ago, we need some cold weather to hopefully get some good ice before we get another dump of snow.  We are still a long way from any snowmobiling but fortunately we expecting a cool down in the near future.  As … [Read more...]

Winter is still here.  We are at about 38° today in the shade.  We have had several riders in today and the overall reports of the trails are really good.  The groomers have been out yesterday and today.  They will also be out later this week as well.  We did see a lot of traffic this past weekend and the trails are still holding up pretty good.  Chance of snow tomorrow and Thurs.  Temps will be below freezing until Saturday then cooling off again. Well things are looking better here along the Gunflint Trail. We received about 2” of fresh snow here at the lodge. I have heard reports of 4”-5” a little to the south of us between here and Devil Track. All of the trails have been groomed and are in pretty good shape overall. The groomers are out today and will be out Thurs, Fri, and Sat this week.  The conditions have not changed much since my last report.  We have a chance for a little bit of snow this week but nothing significant.  Any little bit will help.  I had a few sledders through yesterday that rode up from Devils Track and another group that rode over from Grand Portage.  The Expressway and Gunflint Trail are overall in good shape there are a few rough sections here and there.
