Fishing on Hungry Jack Lake
This couple Sam Soule and Jean Culp long time guests of HJL had a great weekend of fishing here on Hungry Jack Lake. The walleyes they caught were 27" and a 28". The Smallmouth Bass was around 19". Spring is shaping up weather has been nice and we are looking forward to a good summer! We did see a few fish this past weekend with some walleyes on Hungry Jack Lake. One group caught some really nice Smallmouth Bass in the 18” category. Fishing on Leo Lake was also very successful this past weekend for Rainbow Trout. GUNFLINT TRAIL SNOWMOBILE REPORTConditions are still in excellent shape. Our snow levels around the mid-trail area, are around 24” The trails are being groomed on a regular basis. The Cook County Ridge Riders snowmobile club has been doing a lot of trail maintenance this season, with almost 8 miles of reconstruction of the Gunflint Snowmobile Trail. GUNFLINT TRAIL SNOW UPDATEWell things have been a bit brisk here the past few days. We had -24F this morning, not very nice weather for being outside. This cold weather is great for the lakes and swamps that did not get a good freeze early on. We did get some new snow on Thursday night maybe 2-3 inches with a little more closer to Lake Superior.
