Happy New Year, We have had snowmobilers through over the weekend and some yesterday. We did receive a little bit more snow since my last report maybe 1"-2" kind of hard to tell since it was so windy. Some of the trails have been groomed we could definitely use more snow to help our groomers do a better job on the trails. Snow Report – 12/14/11
Well winter is trying to get going we have currently about 4"-6" of snow on the ground here at the lodge. It is still lightly snowing. I did also go out and check the thickness of the ice. I drilled 6 holes and did not find anything less than about 8" or so. Let’s hope that old man winter can send some our way. Snow Report – 11/17/11
Well this is the first snow report of the year. We have a couple of inches on the ground already. The lake is still open. We are expected to receive more snowfall this weekend. The Cook County Snowmobile Club has been out doing more trail maintenance this year, from trail reconstruction to brushing to actually mowing some of the trails to keep the brush back on the trails. Beautiful in July on the Gunflint Trail
Beautiful day in July! Went for a paddle this late morning, 65 degrees and Sunny, doesn't get any better than this. Up ahead, Mount Anna! We recently bought three kayaks for the lodge, great for a morning sunrise paddle or a sunset paddle in the bay. One of our many special guests here at Hungry Jack Lodge. SNOW REPORT FOR THE GUNFLINT TRAILWe have received a few inches of fresh snow in the past few days. Yesterday and today look like absolutely beautiful days. We probably got 5+ inches of snow here along the mid trail area. Closer to Grand Marais I heard that the amount owas 8”+ in some areas.The groomers have been out grooming the trails back into shape after the weekend.
