Snow Report – 2/14/12
The groomers are out today and will be out Thurs, Fri, and Sat this week. The conditions have not changed much since my last report. We have a chance for a little bit of snow this week but nothing significant. Any little bit will help. I had a few sledders through yesterday that rode up from Devils Track and another group that rode over from Grand Portage. The Expressway and Gunflint Trail are overall in good shape there are a few rough sections here and there. The Swamper Trail is being … [Read more...]
Cool Crisp Morning Today!
2 riders heading out to hit the trails early. It is a bit chilly out this morning. I had -14 here a little while ago. The sun is out and it looks like it is going to be a beautiful day. We did have some snow showers yesterday and we did end up getting about an inch or so of fluff. It isn’t much but every little bit counts. Snow levels haven’t changed much other than the dusting we got last night. The groomers have been out this week and are doing the best they can with what they have … [Read more...]
Snow Report – 2/08/12
Well things have definitely cooled off after the warm weather we were having last week and weekend. The snow is still hanging in there. We have had riders through every day this week and overall reports of the trails are still pretty good considering the conditions. The groomers have been out grooming trying to get things back into shape after all of the warm weather and traffic last weekend. We could definitely use more snow but things are still very ride able. We have not had any fresh … [Read more...]
Groomers are out!!!! Come up and play in our Winter Wonderland!!!!!!
Conditions are the best they have been all year. We received about 2” of new snow yesterday morning and we had another dusting this morning. The groomers have been out. The Gunflint, Expressway, Clearwater Spur, and Hungry Jack Spur have been groomed within the last day. I have a few sledders in right now that said the trails overall are in pretty decent shape. Current snow levels are around 18”+ in the mid trail area. I have attached a pic of the groomer as it was going by the lodge about … [Read more...]
Snow Report – 1/27/12
The snow fall over the past weekend has really improved the snowmobiling conditions along the Gunflint Trail. Just about the entire trail system has been groomed. The groomers have been out the last 4 days grooming the trails. Overall reports from snowmobilers that have been stopping by, have been positive. There are still a few sections that are bumpy but overall things are really shaping up. We have some light snow forecasted for the next couple of days but it does not sound like anything … [Read more...]

Good Morning!! Well things are finally starting to pile up. We received about 4”+ yesterday of new snow. We also had some accumulation over the weekend as well. We have about 14”to 18” on the ground. We finally have enough cover for the groomers to work with. All 3 of the Cook County Snowmobile Club Groomers are out today. … [Read more...]
We have the snow!!!!!!!!
Lately we have had a lot of snowmobilers and fisherman come in and saying that they are pleasantly surprized at the amount of snow that we do have. I guess some people just look outside their door and assume that if they still don't have snow there must not be enough anywhere, well I would like to put a halt to these preconceived notions. We do have snow, admittedly it is not near our average, but we have enough to go … [Read more...]
Winter is winning!
Winter is finally winning the battle for the northland this year. All over the state people have been seeing warm temperatures and minimal snowfall, lucky for us other than a couple unseasonably warm days we have stayed at or below freezing (expecting some below zero highs in the near future), In other words; what has come down has stuck around. We have over a foot of snow on the ground, the snowmobile trails have … [Read more...]
Snow Report – 1/14/12
We are receiving some light snow currently. We did have about 2" of fresh snow two days ago. It has been around zero the last two nights. Snowmobile trail conditions are still ride able but more snow is definitely needed to get the groomers out. Current snow levels are right around 12" here at the mid-trail area. Lake Trout Season opened up outside the BWCA today. So far the reports I have been hearing, it sounds like it has been pretty successful so far. Have a great weekend. … [Read more...]
